This article investigates the impact of social media on written communication, analyzing how digital platforms such as Twitter, Instagram, and WhatsApp shape new forms of textual expression. The study explores the transformation of writing, focusing on vocabulary simplification, the use of abbreviations, and the emergence of expressive resources such as emojis and memes. It also discusses the challenges this dynamic imposes on formal and academic writing, highlighting concerns about clarity and cohesion in contexts that demand greater rigor. On the other hand, it is argued that the coexistence of digital language and traditional writing can be beneficial, provided a balance is found between linguistic creativity and adherence to grammatical norms. The analysis concludes with a reflection on the future of writing, considering the growing role of technology and the need for digital literacy to prepare new generations for the challenges of communication in multiple contexts.
