This study aims to analyze the importance of multidisciplinary teams in promoting public health, highlighting their impact on care quality, health indicators, and user satisfaction. A narrative literature review was conducted, with a bibliographic search in PubMed, SciELO, Web of Science, and Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS), using cross-referenced terms in Portuguese and English with Boolean operators to refine the results. The results show that the integration of multidisciplinary teams improves care coordination, promotes a more comprehensive approach, and reduces adverse events. However, challenges such as resistance to change and unclear professional roles still limit the sustainability of these practices. The analysis emphasizes the need for strategies that strengthen communication and interprofessional education, as well as public policies that provide adequate support for team integration. It is concluded that investing in collaborative practices and strengthening multidisciplinary teams is essential for a more efficient, humanized, and patient-centered healthcare system.
