Abstract

The study aims to analyze the challenges and advances in Brazilian public health, with a focus on education and cost management in the Unified Health System (SUS). The research, conducted through a narrative literature review, seeks to identify barriers that compromise the effectiveness of the SUS and explore strategies to improve the training of health professionals and financial management. The results show that the scarcity of resources, the need for continuous training and the inadequate allocation of expenses are significant challenges that affect the quality of care. On the other hand, advances such as the implementation of teleconsultations and the promotion of continuing education offer opportunities to optimize services and expand access to healthcare. The conclusion emphasizes the importance of efficient management of financial resources and continuous training of professionals, stressing that these measures are fundamental for the sustainability of the SUS and the improvement of public health in Brazil. The findings of this research provide support for public policies that prioritize equity in access to health services and open up avenues for future research into public health in the country.
