RETINOBLASTOMA EM CRIANÇAS: ATRASOS NO DIAGNÓSTICO, SINAIS DE ALERTA E DESFECHOS CLÍNICOS: UMA REVISÃO INTEGRATIVA

Resumo

Este estudo teve como objetivo analisar a relação entre os atrasos no diagnóstico do retinoblastoma em crianças, os principais sinais de alerta e os desfechos clínicos associados. Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa da literatura, de abordagem qualitativa com incorporação de dados quantitativos secundários, realizada nas bases MEDLINE e LILACS, com inclusão de artigos publicados entre 2020 e 2025, selecionados por dois revisores independentes. Os achados demonstraram que o atraso entre o aparecimento dos sintomas e o diagnóstico favorece a apresentação de formas intraoculares avançadas ou extraoculares, elevando a necessidade de enucleação, o risco histopatológico e a mortalidade. A leucocoria foi o sinal de alerta mais frequente, seguida por estrabismo, hiperemia ocular, proptose e massa orbitária, sobretudo em contextos de maior vulnerabilidade social e menor acesso aos serviços especializados. Conclui-se que o reconhecimento precoce desses sinais, a qualificação da atenção primária, o encaminhamento oportuno e o uso de estratégias de rastreamento são fundamentais para reduzir atrasos diagnósticos e melhorar o prognóstico e a sobrevida das crianças acometidas.
